Subject: [ferrethealth] Hard Swollen neck Staggers
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

A friends 4 year old ferret was found lying still in the sleeping area of their cage, with swollen neck which was hard,he seemed unable to move and was taken to an after hours vet, given Baytril, and metacam for pain, he look a bit better overnight and would drink a litte from her finger. (Hydrated with Sub-Q fluids) able to lift his head but staggers if trying to walk or move about. Swelling is not around the whole neck but mostly one side. Possible it may be a white tail spider bite but we can find no site of a bite. We are in New ZealandAny suggestions as to what it might be and treatments.
Thanks in advance
