To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com
It's standard proceedure to give most animals a good 12hours=A0without food=
prior to surgery. Neutering is a relatively quick=A0operation and animals =
are usualy sent home the same day. Nothing to worry about!

This will get a lot of replies because
unless a ferret has digestive problems
that impede digestion (rare situation)
this standard is often no longer used
for ferrets, partly because of their
rapid digestion leaving the stomach
empty -- often in fewer than 5 hours --
and partly because of the risk in cases
where there is hidden or beginning
insulinoma.
So, KEEP ALL REPLIES POLITE and FRIENDLY
which is how this post was offered, and
give your helpful info. When mentioning
your examples remember to NOT give
the vets' names or hospitals, please.]
