This is a bit late, but thanks to everyone who replied. She is taking Carafate now without too much trouble but I did have to ease her into it by adding a bit of whipping cream to the syringe after drawing up the Carafate. Not the best idea, I know, but it worked after only a few doses and that was the only way I could get her to accept it. She's been on a bland diet and stopped grinding her teeth a couple days after being started on it and the Carafate and has been going to the treat cabinet the last few days so I plan to reintroduce kibble on Sunday.

One person wrote about using barium as a coating agent which is something I've done in the past (with vet approval). It was very palatable and worked very well. Unfortunately, this vet now prefers ultrasound instead of barium studies and doesn't stock or prescribe it anymore.

Thanks again.
