I am going to echo this thought ... and take it one step further. It
doesn't even have to be a diet change that refusal to eat.

We did not change Oreo's diet at all, yet she quit eating her kibble.
Because she's petite anyway, she was in trouble in only two days. At the vet,
she weighed only 16 ounces and was very weak. She's developed diarreah
and was found to have an intestinal infection.

It's been 3.5 months getting her straightened out. She still will not eat
the very same kibble that she'd eaten for 6 years. We hope to one day
have her eating something (anything healthy) independently again, but for now,
it's soup 4 times a day.

I am relieved that she's now up to a very plump 25 ounces, playful (in her
7 year old lady-style) and happy.

The moral of Oreo's story is that if your ferret quits eating for any
reason, it's time to get to the vet pronto. Supportive care is necessary.

Tamera
