Subject: Re: [ferrethealth] Will a ferret starve to death if they do not like their food???
To: <ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com>

We've found that usually (not always, but usually) a ferret can be gradually persuaded to eat a new food or treat with a little patience. We've never had a ferret not adjust to eating our 'soup' daily, and have also been able to get all new arrivals changed over to our regular TF kibble. Waiting for them to taste a new food on their own can be futile, but gently putting a small piece of the new food in their mouth lets them know that it is, in fact, food. Usually by the third or fourth try the ferret will know that it's food, will recognize the new taste, and will eat it. Sometimes we also have to put a little ferretone on the new kibble to initially get them interested, then gradually lessen the amount of ferretone used until it's only kibble in the bowl.
