Re: will a ferret starve to death

A ferret will also chose to starve to death over a traumatic experience,
such as loss of a cage mate, or change of owners.

I accepted a trial run with an only ferret, Bubbaloo.
His Mommy was transferred to Hawaii whee ferrets are prohibited.

When he came here,he came with food, and a few toys.
I also asked how he likes to be handled and played with,
so he would be most comfortable here.
He would have nothing to do with any of my other ferrets,
refused any kind of human interaction, and after the 3rd day, when he felt abandoned by his Mommy, he refused to eat.
Trial period over!

We learned that about 2months later, Bubbaloo had passed away;
He was just over 3 years old.
We did not have to inquire further as to the reason;
he starved himself and died of a broken heart.
