Subject: Re: [ferrethealth] Problem: Ferret has stopped eating, continues to lose weight. Help/Ideas?
To: <ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com>

An immediate visit with a ferret knowledgeable vet is the first priority. Immediate. A ferret going from 3 lbs. down to 1 lb. is a serious problem that needs to be figured out. It could be a blockage, it could be an abscess in the mouth that exists despite the fact that you didn't see it, it could be ulcers, it could be many things. Without a vet visit it's all just guessing, and at this point you can be sure that it will not resolve itself on its own. Don't wait until he gets to the point of no return. It might be something rather simple that you would regret not treating sooner had you just gone to see the vet. You were wise to join this group that has many knowledgeable vets and ferret owners, but this is something that only a vet visit might help.

Let us know what you find out.

If you need to research recommended ferret vets, here are a couple of links that might help you find one in your area:
