Dea Uli:

Sorry to hear about your scary experience with your ferrets. I have had four ferrets implanted by two different vets. Neither used anesthesia. They were distracted with ferratone either during or immediately after injection. I would wonder about the anesthesia's effect on the ferret.

Is it possible your Kobi has been functioning with a low BG right along and the stress of the anesthesia, vet trip and implant was enough to drop his BG so low it caused a seizure? Many of your symptoms described after the implant are classic low blood glucose signs and the fact that he seemed to do better with the sweet paste is also supportive of that.

My vet highly recommends FBG testing twice a year for any ferret four years or older. He uses this age as he has not had a ferret younger than four become insulinomic.

Best to you and your kids. CR
