Subject: [ferrethealth] Follow-up Re: perplexing skin condition - vets & I need HELP w/ diagnosis!
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

Based on photos I saw on here (FHL) of a ferret affected with distemper (photo titled "Distemper Positive - Pecan 1-3), I SERIOUSLY thought that Charlie had distemper but all of my vets have ruled this out based on the fact that Charlie is really not displaying the symptoms for this - which are poor appetite (Charlie has gained weight, not lost it lately), fever (I've been checking this regularly and no problem there), gooey eye and nose discharge (Charlie's 'eye & nose' discharge is clear, watery, and just nasal "drip" from sinus problems most likely), vomiting & diarrhea (none of this), callousing of nose and foot pads (Charlie doesn't have callouses on foot pads; it's more like fungus growth and has scabbing on nose, not hardened callouses).

I also looked at the photos titled, "Nana - cutaneous lymphoma" and his paws look like Nana's somewhat but not totally.

We're just baffled at what's going on here . . . ????

Again, to be most thorough take a look halfway down in

since you mention looking like fungus

See the section on Dermatomycosis

Some notes:
uncommon in ferrets
Microsporium canis
