Subject: [ferrethealth] ferret collapsed with legs straight out behind it
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

Tyron was a 3 year old male ferret who collapsed and was basically unable to move, and died within a matter of hours, as the parents live in an isolated area with no emrgency vet accessible he was unable to be seen by a vet. He was active a matter of hours before hand, was eating and pooing normally the night before. We can not be sure if it was hind leg paralysis or if he was unable to use any of his legs. Any thoughts as where to start or things to think about as to why he died so quickly?
Many thanks Michelle

[Hind leg weakness is a very general symptom. There are most
common causes, but anything serious can cause it.

The only way to know for sure is a necropsy with pathology
(and in some cases also with toxicology).
