Subject: [ferrethealth] Frequent urinating
To: <ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com>

We have a temporary new boy in our home. He and his cagemate came from a terrible background and we're helping to rehabilitate them. He's doing extremely well, but I've noticed that he urinates frequently and in small amount. For example, he went 7 times in the first 10 minutes that he was out of his cage for playtime yesterday. Just he and his buddy are out for playtime together, the other ferrets are away during that time. Usually he finds an appropriate place to urinate (in a corner with newspaper), but a few times he's gone in front of the 'big cage' where the other ferrets are sleeping, where there is no newspaper on the floor. The urine itself looks normal. Might he have a urinary infection, or do ferrets 'mark their territory', as dogs might? Or, could this be something else entirely?
