Subject: [ferrethealth] Austin passed away
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

I found Austin passed away this morning. He was doing so much better just hours before. I had checked in on him at 1:00 and fed him. He was strong, bright eyed, and hungry for the first time in a few days. All day he seemed better after switching the antibiotic and getting fluids in him. I was really looking up at the situation. Just a few short hours later I found him still and cold. He must had very recently passed or was waiting for me. We'll be burying him today at my Mom's house. I don't know if I was in denial or naive or what, but I just didn't really see it coming. He was fine a week ago. This is all so sudden and unexpected. I'm so incredibly sad, and angry and shocked. I just can't accept it. That's 3 ferrets in one year. 2 in 2 months. How can anyone sanely handle this? Thank you to all who posted and replied the last week and how quickly you did. It's appreciated.

Please, send any (much appreciated) sympathy
posts directly to Sam if they don't contain new
health information as per FHL rules.

Given this was perhaps sudden kidney failure
is there a chance he found a stash of raisins
or grapes? Those have caused acute renal
failure in ferrets, dogs, and cats.
