Subject: [ferrethealth] Re my query on high ALT/SGPT and AST/SGOT ( I read Dr Williams article)
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

My thanks to the moderator who posted the link to Dr Williams article in response to another message. I had read the article in the past but not recently. Dr Williams writes "The diagnosis of hepatic disease in the ferret must be based not only on ALT and alkaline phosphatase, but other clinical indicators in the CBC and chem panel".
Sienna and Bonnie's Alkaline phosphatase results were 40 and 90 respectively (ref 14-144). Made me feel better. But still wonder at the ALT of 1457 and the use of mean and ref ranges. Their total protein and globulin levels were somewhat high as well -but seems that can be from a number of reasons.
