Hey Millie, these spots look exactly like Chaco's did when he was
first diagnosed.

Hi Misty,

We have a permenant foster in my care names Chaco. He went through
rigorous tests to rule many things out. We tested him out on a
benadry/preds combo and relized that it cleared up and yes, it was
allergies. But without these meds everyday he would get worse and
worse breakouts over time. Our vet took a full thickness sample of
his skin and sent it off for allergy testing and to have it tested
for Pemphegus. It came back positive for both. Well, Pemphegus is
an auto-immune problem that attacks the skin. It seems to be very
rare in ferrets because we can find little research about it. So if
you are spinning wheels that might be a test to consider. If you
want pics of Chaco and his sores (they are more severe after a year)
you can e-mail me and I will take some current ones and send them
your way.

Pemphegus, while not curable, is treatable. Besides his sores which
really don't bother him he is a very happy playful little boy. We
also keep him on a daily dose of Cefa-Drops to keep his sores from
ever getting infected.

I hope this helps and doesnt add any stress.

Patrice Daley, Tx Ferret Lovers Rescue.
