Hello Misty,

I remember Rhea. :)

Have you had the adrenal panel run and/or have you tried lupron yet?
I'm still of the belief that your girl is adrenal. The symptoms she's
been showing, from the aggression (which is often one of the
earliest signs) to the hair loss, are classic of adrenal disease. Age
doesn't matter, age when altered doesn't matter. Adrenal disease can
occur in any ferret at any age. I've seen it in mine at as young as 5
months, and I've seen it in late alters too (two of my late alter Ohio
boys are showing signs, most notably sexual aggression). In fact, I've
heard of at least two cases of adrenal disease in intact ferrets
(adrenals were found to be grossly enlarged at necropsy).

As for melatonin, it isn't always effective. And even when it is it
tends to lose it's effectiveness in a short period of time. This may
be why it appeared to be helpful when you first gave it but isn't
helping now.

If you haven't already I would, again, suggest running the panel
and/or trying lupron.
