Subject: [ferrethealth] 2 problems in young ferret
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

My 9 mth old Jayla is not feeling well. I originally took her to the
vet because she seemed to be sore in her hindend and was limping.
While the vet was taking her temperature she peed,so he took the pee
to be anaylised. Her temperature was 39.7 C (which the vet said is a
fever). He felt her belly was swollen and tender. He also took blood
and did an ultrasound. The blood and urine results showed she had a
high calcium level and crystals in her urine. She's on injectable
Baytril 2x a day. I got the results of the ultrasound today and it is
normal.

She will only eat by being handfed, she still seems sore in the
hindend and isn't active. She's peeing and pooing just fine. She will
be going back to the vet Thursday (last day of medicine)to be check.
The hindend soreness seems to be a mystery, could her problem with the
crystals be causing it. I'm at a loss as to what to do next, any
suggestions that I could bring up with the vet on Thurs???

(I have also checked out the archives)
