It seems that I recall a vet (Dr. Heller?) on this list saying that
distemper vacs PROBABLY are not necessary after five consecutive years,
based on some preliminary titer studies. Depending on the age when I
get the ferrets, I start with the two vacs, three weeks apart. I then
go to annual for at least two or three more years. If they are
younger, I vaccinate for a full five years. After the initial two
vacs, three weeks apart, I am leaning towards one vac a year later, and
then an 18 month period between vacs, based on anecdotal evidence from
some very experienced ferret vets. I have an elderly group that I have
entirely stopped vaccinating.
Always remember that distemper is AIRBORNE and 100% fatal in ferrets.
You have to decide if it's worth the risk to you.

I can't find that post, but it is entirely possible that I
missed it, that a different vet mentioned it, or that it
was on a different list. If I'd found it I'd have given the
URL for you. Sorry about not having luck.]
