I usually bathe my newbies in a sink so I usually hold them. If you
use a bathtub, you can run a couple of inches of warm water and let
the ferret stand up. Make sure the mat isn't over the side or the
ferret will climb out in a heartbeat! LOL Remember that ferrets
have a higher body temp than we do, so the water needs to be warmer
than what we would use for ourselves, not to the point of burning
your hand, but nearing uncomfortable for you. Work on getting the
fleas off first, picking them and dumping them in the water to
drown. You may need to empty the water and start again 2-3 times
until you don't see any more fleas.

Use a shampoo that is safe for kittens or puppies. I use an oatmeal
based shampoo. Don't use human shampoo; it is too harsh. Try to
work up a lather and, if the ferret will allow it, let it sit for a
couple of minutes before rinsing. You may want to do a second wash,
then rinse well, watching to make sure you don't see any more fleas.
Then, towel dry and then put ferret and towel on the floor so it can
continue drying. Apply Revolution after its completely dry.

If the ferret has been running around in your house already, you will
need to treat your house also. I'm not sure how to do that since I
haven't had that problem, but your vet should be able to guide you on
safe products to de-flea the house.

Good luck!
