Also with feeling melatonin implants, the capsule is plastic. Once the
melatonin is used up, the capsule will remain forever.
In older ferrets, they can move down the back, or down the sides. As the
skin gets thinner from age, you may see a scar form as the implant shell
irritates the skin. When you have your ferret at the vet you might even ask
them to take out a capsule that is causing issues like that. For us it only
took one quick nip and push for the capsule to pop out. It was obviously
irritating the ferret.
