I described what I was seeing in Nemo and it was the same that he saw

You have provided anecdotal evidence about one ferret. Capstar
advertises itself safe for puppies and kittens 5 weeks old. It has
been on the market for at least eight years. I don't recall any
reports of it being any more dangerous than any other flea product,
nor has it been pulled from the market at any time.

Capstar primarily is used for animals who are infested with fleas.
That's the purpose of the product. I don't believe anyone is
recommending it for long-term use. It is intended to be used once to
rid the animal of a serious flea infestation and then, hopefully, the
fleas can be kept under control after that. A second dose can be
given, if necessary. Any product can cause a reaction. You
mentioned that Capstar isn't approved for ferrets. Neither is
Advantage; most things aren't.

information regarding reactions we have heard of, so at the very least
they are informed of the possibilities.

I agree. Can you provide proof positive that the Capstar is what
caused Nemo's problems? If so, I will be happy to pass the
information on to my vet.

This reminds me of a person who was convinced that a melatonin
implant caused all kinds of problems, and possibly death, in a
ferret. No proof was every provided, and it was possibly just a
series of coincidences. I understand that. I once got sick after
eating cherries. I became convinced that cherries made me sick and,
to this day, I won't eat them. Purely coincidence.

I would never recommend to anyone that they should use Capstar long-
term, but I would certainly recommend it for a major flea (or maggot)
infestation when it might save the animal's life.

And, I've heard of reaction to Advantage and other flea products.
Does that mean we shouldn't use them? I reacted to a vaccination
once myself. Does that mean it should be taken off the market?

Capstar was only mentioned when someone said they were unable to get
rid of fleas. It was mentioned, along with other options.
