Subject: [ferrethealth] have back the TN Panel results for Hilbert and Whizbang

We just got back the TN Panel results on Hilbert and Whizbang.
In the meantime Whizzie's vulva went up so large that we could see two
little tooth marks and began antibiotics. Telemna has always been a
dirty fighter with other ferrets forever, I'm afraid... That has been
true since she was 12 weeks old. The others get it on the rectum if
she gets too annoyed.
Whizzie does just have an infection again and is responding well.
(We always test when there is a question.)
Hilbert is positive for having adrenal over-activity.
5 years ago when his bladder was repaired and when the hydronephrosis
had mechanically inflamed his adrenals the left came out cleanly but
part of the right wound up under an emergency vascular clamp.
He still seems to need his Fludrocort and Prednisolone so he does not
seem to have enough of the right portion of the adrenal cortex to
produce the needed steroids (though that may change), but he is over-
producing hormones so now he gets to have regular Lupron depots and
melatonin implants while we watch in case any other meds wind up needed.
Through the years he has probably had something like 5 adrenal panels
(I seem to recall that one year he needed 2.) and till now it has
always been his allergies causing fur loss, but since we always knew
there could be a chance of remaining adrenal tissue misbehaving we
consistently tested to be safest for him. This time, 5 years since
the original inflammation from irritation, it is adrenal.
Hilbert is 6 years old as of last month. Whizbang is approaching 6
years in age. Both are early neuters, both from a major farm
originally, both here since kithood.
