Yes, if it is a disease that could be the case.

If it is caused by poisoning from rodenticide or from
a hidden stash that includes a med which can cause
hemorrhage then perhaps that ferret associates the
location or what was eaten with being ill and is
avoiding it.

Years ago something similar was happening to cats
in the neighborhood where I grew up. There turned
out to be a teenage neighbor who took a dislike to
all but a few cats and he was purposely killing them.
The presentation was pretty much just as described
due to the hemorrhagic aspects. He was quite mentally
ill. That is why rodenticide immediately came to mind
for me, but those other ideas make just as much
sense for investigation. (BTW, if this is a home which
was used by others then past rodenticide use has to be
considered. From having been a bat rescuer in the
past, and from people incorrectly trying to use
rodenticides on bats, I learned from BCI that rodenticides
are designed to sift downward over time, so ones that are
used in attics can wind up going through crevasses
into rooms below and they wind up mostly at the lowest
levels accessible (floors).)

I think the feedback on this topic has been excellent!
Joan and Rob, you are so on the ball!

It has us all thinking about multiple options and good
common sense advice for preventing future deaths.

Here are Animal Poison Control Center URLs. Note
that there is a per-case fee, and an ID number is
given to each case for later needs:

I don't know if any houseplants are hemorrhagic but
it would not surprise me if some are. **If** I get time
I will try to look up what poisoning types are hemorrhagic,
but I hope that someone else will have time before then
to do so.

What diseases of Carnivora that are hemorrhagic sounds
like it would also be helpful.
