Subject: [ferrethealth] Vaccination reaction(s)
To: Ferret Health <ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com>

Hi everyone,
This may seem like a silly question, but, with the answer I got from a vet,=
I'm questioning what I know.
=A0
My female Diti had a reaction to her rabies shot back in Aug '07, a mild on=
e, vomiting and diahhrea, but concerning none the less.=A0 So, she was due =
for her annual checkup a few months ago, and I told the vet of her last rea=
ction.=A0 I asked shouldnt she not be vaccinated, since she will probably h=
ave another reaction and it could be worse?=A0 He said 'not neccessarily'.=
=A0 Now, this is a pretty well known vet in our area who sees many ferrets,=
and Diti is a biter, so I reluctantly said ok.=A0 Well, of course she had =
another reaction.=A0 Vomiting and diarrhea again.=A0 So I asked him, if nex=
t year we should definately not vaccinate, and he said we can talk about it=
then.=A0
=A0
Now, I have 2 other ferrets that are due for their annual next month, and I=
'm questioning on going back to this vet for their exam/vaccinations.=A0 Af=
ter all, I thought the train of thought was, that if a ferret has a reactio=
n, that re-vaccinating for that *same* vaccine, should be avoided if possib=
le becuz more than likely they will have another reaction??
=A0
Thanks,
Andrea
