Hello!
I have a 7 YO female ferret that was diagnosed with insulinoma in May. She was raised on Totally Ferret and then switched to a natural, raw diet 2 1/2 years ago. While the diet slowed the progression of the disease, damage done could not be undone Due to her age, surgery was ruled out.
My question is this, she gets 0.1 ml of the natural hydrocortisone 2x daily. If it were up to her, she would eat raw and no carbs (which causes her to crash) so we've had to start giving her rice baby cereal to keep her BGL up every 4-6 hours. I know she eats small raw tidbits I cut up for her inbetween meals but am concerned with all the rice/carbs. She was letting me mix the rice with the Wysong freeze-dried raw all meat/bone/organ disks but stopped a couple weeks ago.
Is there anyone else with an insulinomic that is trying to raw feed and get in the needed carbs with any suggestions??
