I started on the cranberry because the vet said he didn't want to do
any more antibiotics. I'm not really sure why he doesn't want to do
more meds, but I left a message for him to call me on Monday to discuss
it (and the prednisone).

All I know is that the animal hospital did a urinalysis and sent the
results to the vet. He then called and told me that Sid had a UTI.

We didn't do xray or ultrasound because the vet was dubious at best
about it finding anything. I originally wrote that it was about 1.5
inches from the base of his tail, but after looking again, I think it's
more like 2.5 inches.
I'm getting very confused about all the different tests and possible
diagnoses...Is there any way that you could write me a list of things
to test? And possible causes for these symptoms? That way, I can
print it out and take it to the vet to go through with me....
I know that I really need a specialist, but I have done extensive
research online, and I haven't been able to find any specialists on
Vancouver Island...The best I can do is go to a vet who treats a lot of
ferrets, and the current one has been the best so far.
Thanks again!
