Subject: [ferrethealth] IBD - FYI

i have several ferrets with IBD and i am using 1cc of pred twice a day
and .2cc of tylosin peanut butter flavored. rufus use to have the
worse poos but now they are so much better. he might have one loose
poop and then for 3-4 days or more they are all on the formed side. he
was losing weight and i am happy to say he has actually put on weight.
i am not doing anything different with him, no different soup, etc.
i also had another ferret with IBD and we used the tylan, rabbit dog
food (you can't get it right now, there is something going on with the
rabbits overseas) so we are now using duck. I think you can use
vension, buffalo or any other type of food as long it as it isn't
chicken. to the duck/vension/buffalo etc i add 1 1000mg fish oil
capsule, 1 400mg vit E and approx 1-2 teaspoons of pumpkin and make a
soup out of it. romeo really like it and he did well on it for just
about a year.
i was sent the recipe for the soup from someone on the FML, sorry i
don't remember their name, but it work well.thanks
i thought maybe this info might help another little one.
