Does the group thing it's unreasonable to look for a vet to do the
adrenal sx/exploratory without the additional expense of the imaging
and Dx attempts?
**Well, I certainly don't. As a vet who is comfortable doing surgery on
either the right or the left adrenal gland, I tend not to worry about which side
is affected, so that's not a consideration for me. If I have a clear diagnosis
of adrenal disease based on symptoms (and I can often feel an enlarged left
gland, even if it is pretty small), I recommend surgery and don't see the point
of the expense of the pre-surgical imaging in most cases. If I was leary of
doing a right sided surgery, it might be a different story there.
As far as giving Lupron without a confirmed diagnosis - well, some of my
colleagues use response to Lupron as a diagnostic test! No worries there.**
