In these situations we always start with Lupron Depot
and melatonin implant hoping for help. They did not
work, and it was not a surprise when her TN once again
showed that she does NOT have adrenal disease.
Antibiotics helped, but then not long after (sonner than
usual) Telemna (who also does NOT have adrenal disease)
bit her again; then we found the grooming trick.
For a ferret with adrenal disease it would not be expected to
make this sort of difference because the source would
remain. With it being just infection the grooming can
make a huge difference as it has for Whizbang, though,
and perhaps it would even help those others a bit.
BTW, Whizbang is also someone who winds up losing
fur to Lupron at first after she gets it. She always does.
That's just the way that Lupron at first causes a spike
in LH before it controls it.
I've answered the question you asked before but you must have
missed those posts.
The surprise this time was that after years of periodically
looking like he had adrenal disease but instead was having
his allergies kicking up Hilbert (age 6) finally did develop
adrenal disease. Of course, as i said, we have the blood
drawn for the TN Panel then have the Lupron Depot and
Melatonin implant given for safety's sake while we await
the test results.
This time he and Whizzie had the 3 month Lupron so that
if weather caused a problem they would still be covered.
She didn't need the depot and implant but they don't cause
harm. He turned out to actually need them so he was set.
Better safe than sorry.
