As long as we are into talking about adrenal disease:

Oh, BTW, there is another very cool article
(human health but appears to also apply for
at least two ferret illnesses: adrenal disease
and prostatic enlargement since the prostate
has melatonin receptors and may apply for
others especially now that it is known the
sufficient circulating melatonin has help
maintain high enough blood glucose levels

_with_type_2_diabetes )
on the benefits of melatonin for hormonal
disorders.

I don't know if it will come up for non-members
until next week:
http://www.sciencenews.org/index/home/activity/view
and open the article on darkness and melatonin
or try

Notice that it DOES matter for at least one of these how
much light pollution there is at night. I have put such
maps up in the past when talking about scotobiology and
adrenal disease. I'd wondered if regions with less light
pollution (such as even many populated parts of Australia
when compared to parts of the U.S. and western Europe
may have lower levels of any of the health problems that
are associated with lower levels of melatonin circulating in
a being. It turns out that for human prostatic disease it
DOES matter. It will be interesting if light pollution also
plays a factor in some of the hormonal diseases of ferrets.
