To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

I buy the 2 mg 4 month depot from Professional Arts. This is split....
smaller ferrets (around 2 pounds and under) are given 500 mcg, larger
ferrets (2+ pounds and up) are given 1 mg. I had been giving it every
4 months but have seen breakthroughs of symptoms in the 3-4 month
period (regardless of dosage), so I'm now giving it every 3 months.
With 11 currently on it there isn't generally any left over but in the
past, when I had fewer on it, I did freeze what was not used
immediately. According to literature my vet referenced lupron can be
frozen for up to 12 months. I've kept it frozen for up to 6 months
with no issues. I also have 5 younger ferrets currently on it year
round as a hopeful preventative. With these I'm giving 500 mcg's
regardless of weight.
