Subject: [ferrethealth] Re: Initial prednisone dosage for insulinoma
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

Cait,

if that is FIVE mg per ml then each ml has FIVE mgs of the pred in it.
That is an enormous dose. Given twice a day that would add up to
10 mg of Pred. Check the label.

Ultrasound is NOT usually the best way to find adrenal growths if
there is a question. The TN Panel (sent directly to the university rather
than through a middleman can cut cost by as much as half) is the
way to go if there is an unclear picture.

It would be 2 mg/day if the bottle is ONE mg/ml or if if says something
approximating Five mg/Five ml.

...

I'd travel. If the new vet is willing to have someone who knows ferrets
better consult, though, then that is a possibility, OR if the front desk or
pharmacy made the error and some covering-up is going on then things
may not be as questionable. It seems like you need to speak with the vet
directly.
