I'm wondering if the doses discussed here by Dr. Murray or in other posts by Karen, Katherine, or others are affected by the presence of a melatonin implant.

Our older ferret Trinny, who's 6 years or older, got her first Lupron Depot shot 6 weeks ago (200 mcg, 4-month type). That didn't seem to help her fur loss or her discomfort, so two weeks ago we added a melatonin implant. She continues to slowly lose her fur (she's about 30% bald now and thinning in most other areas). My vet is reluctant to add more Lupron, but I would like to try 400 - 500 mcg. It is possible that Trinny has a malginancy, as we don't know exactly what we are dealing with in terms of her adrenal disease. She is also on Presnisolone (15 mg / 5 ml), getting 0.25 ml three times daily for her insulinoma. The insulinoma is under control, but her adrenal symptoms are not.

I would like to get a little more aggressive with the Lupron treatments, but I'm wondering if the presence of the melatonin implant will make increasing the Lupron an exercise in futility. I'm trying to make whatever time Trinny has with us 'quality' time, and seeing her continue to lose her fur and be uncomfortable, with the current level of treatment seemingly not working very well, is not something I want to just let happen without trying all available options.

Any input from Dr. Murray or others will be greatly appreciated.

Jeff
