Subject: [ferrethealth] Re: Lupron dosage, sources and storage
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

I asked one of our members this quesiton privately, but thought I'd
post as well: regarding IM vs. sub Q administration...my vet did
administer IM with the smaller dosages (100 - 387 mcg) but this past
time when it was 1 mg, he gave it sub Q due to the large amount to be
administed. Has this been others' experience as well?

BTW, I hadn't thought about the difference in responses to dosage
levels based on geographic region as Katharine mentioned. I thought
that was an interesting consideration to think about.

[Moderator's Note:

There is some evidence that latitude might effect
how well the prophylactic aspects and timing work,
likely due to the longer and brighter days
closer the Equator (with more in the way of blue and
green light wavelength exposure) and noting responses in
multiple regions is something that one Lupron researcher,
Dr. Cathy Johnson- Delaney has shown an interest in
looking at for prophylactic use.

If it pans out it would be interesting if the effect also
exists for therapeutic levels and use, as was postulated
by Katharine as an unknown possibility in this discussion]
