His age is not a huge deal for surgery but his health sounds
like it could be. We tend to up precautions a lot if a ferret who
is over 8 years of age goes in for surgery. At the age of 6 with
those symptoms I'd be inclined both to make sure any needed
bloodwork (the CBC and Chem Panel are the big ones) is done
first and with those symptoms I'd want to be sure the heart is
up to it.

How is he urinating? For some reason i was thinking that this
was a female and males with adrenal disease have a pretty
decent risk of the prostate having secondary problems.

The prognosis is really going to depend on what the heck is
wrong. Some more tests may give a much better feeling for
that. I think you can count on adrenal disease, but the bigger
question is what else is going on if that is just adrenal hyper-
plasia. If this is treatable stuff this ferret could have months
to years depending on the what it is, how easily it can be
controlled, and how advanced it has become already.

Be sure the new vet knows about the Pred since it will affect
some blood work.

See if you can take the x-rays with you.

Why were the images blurry? I can think of some possible
reasons. If the people did not know how to treat a ferret
to stay calm enough there may have been too much motion,
if there is ascites (which usually indicates heart disease but can
indicate some other things that amount of fluid may be a
problem, inflammation may be another. That is just guesswork
from some of ours in the past so know that I am not a vet and
could be wrong.

If the breathing gets bad enough have an emergency appointment
and among other things check for ascites since some Lasix
may be in order. Inability to breathe is an emergency situation.
