Hi Kathy,

In terms of my little guy who just underwent emergency surgery - it
not only extended his life, it saved it! Without it the tumor would
probably have ruptured and he would have bled to death very quickly.

My vet and I were prepared for a diagnosis of lymphoma or other
neoplasm. We were absolutely delighted to learn that the tumor was
benign!

His incision is healing very well and he is still in convalescent
mode.

While surgical pain is uncomfortable, it can generally be managed
quite well with pain medication. And it certainly is not as painful
as what she may be experiencing right now.

Glad to see you have found a ferret knowledgeable vet!

As Sukie mentioned, she needs to be assessed for heart disease. A
pre-surgical blood panel is done here routinely but it may not be
where you are. I would check.

Surgery can be expensive and it was a major expense for me
considering I lost his companion a week ago to lymphomsarcoma and
another ferret in October to lymphoma, with all the associated
veterinary expenses. However, I don't regret the decision I made to
go ahead with the surgery and will bear the burden of the unexpected
expense. It saved his life!

Tressie
