Subject: [ferrethealth] Nakk
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

Not sure where to start with this. First off, let me say that Nakk is
heading to a vet on Tuesday and has been in to see the vet several
times in the last few months. The diagnosis so far is uncertain...
allergy or irritable bowel syndrome (or something akin to it).

He has lost weight, he's been eating less and less and now only eats
when we force feed him, which he is not horribly thrilled with. We
have moved him from chicken based kibble to turkey based kibble...
which improved his appetite for a few days. He has diarrhea... when we
feed him duck soup it looks and has the same consistency coming out as
it is going in.

Anyone experience anything like this with their little guys? Nakk
turned 4 years old last month and is a Marshall's ferret.

Any suggestions? Can human anti-diarrhea medicine be used in small
doses? (I'm really grasping at straws here).

is in one place -- Mod]

Forgot to mention... his stool has been checked for bacteria. It was
clean. Have not checked for parasites, but since the rest of the
ferrets are not exhibiting any problems the vet ruled that possibility
out as it is highly unlikely that only one ferret would have them.

Nakk has also been on antibiotics. Sorry, do not recall what they were
... but it did not change his condition any.
