Hi Cheryl,=A0 I have 2 ferrets diagnosed w/ lymphoma.=A0 The first was Rayn=
a (who has since passed), who was diagnosed around the time she was 2 yrs o=
ld.=A0 Very aggressive, high grade.=A0 I did opt for the Tufts protocol, it=
gave her an extra 3 months.=A0 As far as I could tell, this Tufts protocol=
was very easy on her system... she never had any vomiting or diarrhea, app=
etite was good.=A0 It took I want to say maybe 5 weeks before we saw a huge=
improvement, but the vet believed it had invaded her spine, as she lost co=
ntrol of her back legs and bladder/bowel controls.=A0 But when she was fina=
lly improving, she was playing and enjoying life again.=A0 I truly believe =
that all this happened so fast w/ her, that if I had not done the Tufts on =
her and did just the Pred, that I wouldve lost her much earlier.=A0 I know =
its difficult to say for sure, but thats just how aggressive and fast this =
all came on.=A0 Was it worth it to her?=A0 I dont know.=A0 I hope I made th=
e
right decision for her.
=A0
My other experience w/ lymphoma is w/ my boy Gus who was diagnosed a few mo=
nths ago.=A0 His is low grade slow lymphoma.=A0 My vet suggested that we do=
the Leukeran also like someone else mentioned.=A0 But like he said, his fe=
rret also has the low grade.=A0
=A0
Each case is so different, its so hard to say which is the right thing to d=
o.=A0 Like I said, I couldnt tell that Rayna had any problems w/ the Tufts =
protocol, but it was pretty expensive.=A0 If money is not a concern, I woul=
d probably go with that option.=A0 My vet did say that the other protocol (=
dont know the name), but its the 'regular' protocol, was more harsh on thei=
r systems - so that may be the one your vet is talking about.=A0 You could =
ask about the Tufts one if he's not referring to that one.=A0
=A0
Best wishes for your friend's little one.
