Hi Michael,

Sulcrafate/carafate is better tolerated than Pepto Bismol, which most
ferrets hate the taste of. Reglan (metoclopramide)can be given sub-q
and might be easier to administer than trying to get him to take it
orally with an already upset tummy. Your vet should be able to show
you how to do a sub-q injection.

Several things can cause vomiting and include - an obstruction
(assume that was ruled out); stomach ulcer/Helicobacter
(possibility); EGE (need confirmation through biopsy) and insulinoma
(may need higher dose of pred).

How is his stool? Black tarry indicative of upper GI bleed generally
ulcer and/or Helicobacter. Green mucousy is typical of EGE.

There are a zillion recipes for duck soup. What did yours contain?
That would tell more if it was the duck soup he had trouble with
although if he tolerated it once its more likely that something else
is going on.

Trouble with pred is that it can predispose them to an ulcer and that
may be something to consider. It doesn't sound to me from what you
wrote that he was put on medications for possible
ulcer/Helicobacter. The fact that he was better after the Pepto is
suspicious of an ulcer, also teeth grinding is a classic symptom.
However, can be associated with other things as well. I suggest
switching to sulcrafate 20 - 30 minutes before each feeding and see
if that settles things down. A/D is easy on the tummy and I would
stick with that for a few days as well.

If none of that works - then exploratory surgery may be the best
option. Goes without saying you need to discuss all of this with
your vet. Keep in mind that the vet-client relationship is a team
relationship - both of you working toward making your fuzzkid better.
