The manufacturers of Carafate say that it DOES matter
in their patient materials that it not be given at the
same time as food or meds.

http://www.drugs.com/mtm/carafate.html

The old rule for humans was 15 to 20 minutes before
food, longer before meds (but remember that some
meds like Digoxin can not be given at all with Carafate.
More recently, many people are being told to have their
Carafate about a hour before meals.

Carafate sinks into the injured areas so it needs time to
do that. You want it coating the tissues, not coating
meds that are needed or food particles instead of tissues
(or in the case of some meds like Digoxin, interacting).
Not spacing them could undermine the value of both meds.

So, use best guess since no one knows for sure for
ferret timing.
