To: <ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com>

Thank you all for your input. He ( Mr Snookie) went in for his surgery this morning. A couple hours ago I got a call from the vet tech , he had 3 intestinal hair balls. he is very groggy but doing well. I bring him home tomorrow.

I have a approximately 5 year old blind albino male. He has a problem
that up until late this afternoon, seems to have been getting worse.

He has insulinoma but only on .2 mils pred. 3x daily.

Several months
ago eat quite a bit of duck soup that that I gave him before and
after his pred.. He then if he ate enough his stomach was gurgling if
he didn't get the gurgling would spit up some food. over time the
amount of food became less and less that caused him to spit up.

He
also had ocasinally had minor bouts with diarrhea. about 3 weeks ago
he started a bout with the diarrhea that every thing I tried would
not go away.

Also the spiting up got to a point that it only took
about 1/2 a teaspoon.

A little over a week ago we went to the vet and
he was put on amoxy and he was given metoclopramide to deal with the
spiting up but not to start it until 2 weeks. That was on saturday
before last the following Wednesday evening the spitting up got worse
and he was gritting his teeth. Thursday morning back to the vet, the
vet said to start the metoclopramide. He seemed a bit better by
Saturday noon. Saturday eve started getting worse on the teeth
grinding. I stoped the metoclopramide and gave him some pepto. Seemed
a bit better by Sunday morning. Sunday eve wasn't eating to well but
was eating. By monday excolated to surenge feeding. Back to the vet
teusday morning. Did xrays and tummy palptations and vet wasn't able
to find cause said exploratory surgery at this point is the only
option. Had vet give him fluids and he scheduled sugery for thursday
and put him on A/D diet. This evening he is doing better and starting
to eat dry food on his own.

I'm wondering if the duck soup is his
problem as it is the only thing that has changed as he is not on it
now, just A/D and eating dry on his own. I'm thinking about holding
off on the sugery a bit and see if he continues to improve ???
Sorry it's long but wanted as many details as I could. I don't want
to do this sugery unless I have to??
