Subject: [ferrethealth] Re: 6 yr old male ferret, IBD and/or other??
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

Is he on any medication?

The orange color could be related to a liver issue. I don't know
what he is talking about on the x rays since a black spot just sounds
strange. X rays are pretty subjective and there is a lot we can't
see. Sometimes an ultrasound can enlighten you.

If he has IBD then he may need a special diet (something easier to
digest etc.) and possibly be put on prednisolone. There are a lot of
things going on and it sounds like he didn't give you a lot of info.
Ask a lot of questions of him.

We would prob fair better with Carafate over Peptobismol and it is
easier to get down in most cases. He might benefit by being treated
for a gastric ulcer and heliobactor gastritis.

He prob has a lot of Gut pain and this needs to be addressed. I know
this is vague but don't know what he is on right now either. I would
use Amoxi bare minimum since it is good for the liver and the
bacteria that causes the ulcers.

Check out some of the health links at Miamiferret.org and you might
find more info for you and your vet. Best of luck to you. Hope you
find things that help.
