Subject: [ferrethealth] What would cause a gurgling sound?
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

My ferret Linus has had gurgling sounds coming from his throat and
stomach for the last couple of weeks. This started around the same
time we upped his Prednisolone from .1 to .15 because he was getting
low glucose readings. Now his glucose is fine. A couple days after
we upped his dose, he started vomiting white foam everywhere and you
could hear noise from his stomach from clear across the room. He
hasn't vommited since then that I am aware of, but he does frequently
get these gurgling sounds. He also sometimes looks like he is about
to vomit while getting his soup, he will stop a second and kind of dry
heave and then keep eating like nothing happened.

I took him to the vet and he got an Upper GI, which the vet concluded
he had gas and is overweight (he has Pred belly but he also loves his
food). I am concerned still because this keeps going on and looking
through the archives, the majority of results I get are for
megaesophagus which seems to have a very poor prognosis. I wish the
vet would have heard the gurgling but he wasn't doing it while we were
there. Any other ideas? Can a ferret be this loud from gas?
