Subject: [ferrethealth] Re: What would cause a gurgling sound? Update
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

Thanks guys, we went to a different ferret vet this morning to get a
second opinion, anyway the regular ferret vet is on vacation so...he
thinks he has a case of gastritis and esophagitis (sp?). He said it
sounds classic, and in his opinion, megaesophagus is extremely rare.
We could put him under anesthesia and use an endoscope to get
biopsies, but instead we are going to treat him as if he has gastritis
and esophagitis and see if he gets better. He gave him a shot of
Prednisone to get the inflammation down, and he is going to continue
with Pepcid AC, I'm going to up the frequency he gets Carafate, and
now we added Amoxy, Propulsid, and Mylicon (baby gas drops).

I will let you know what happens as we start this new regimen.
