Subject: [ferrethealth] Re: DMK ferret grinding teeth, no appetite
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com
Uno did not have the surgery done as my vet has been giving
antibiotics as well as fluids and she felt he was getting better. I
went to see him, he was very bright, alert and seemed to be back to
normal. He sucked down some ferretone which he did NOT grind his
teeth after having, a good sign! I saw his x-ray and saw where the
barium had pooled in the bottom of his stomach, not such a good
sign. I wondered if maybe the Forti Flora I was giving him caused a
problem and she said no. Anyway Uno is going to be having a
ultrasound done this afternoon and hopefully coming home tonight.
It was suggested maybe he get a vitamin B12 shot and try compounded
Milk Thistle for the liver. Any suggestions as to this helping or
anyone else try these things? I put a call into my vet's office to
see if they might do these two things, am waiting for a call back
from the vet tech. Will keep everyone posted. I think maybe on this
list there should be a section where it describes what is going on
with a ferret, what it might be and possible treatment for it. Any
ideas?
