Subject: [ferrethealth] canine either gone or broken above gum line
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

This is something we have never encountered before, so it
goes to show that ferrets always find ways to teach us.

Mornie and Pivot were having an argument and Pivot was
chasing Mornie. Pivot does not show any injuries. Mornie
came to me and was licking her lips a lot on that side so I
checked, and she has a mandibular canine either fully gone
now, or (as I suspect from the hardness under the gum,
it broke off under the gum line. She may have run into a
piece of furniture in the fight or perhaps caught the tooth
on carpet while they tussled. She is not showing large
discomfort, but she is trembling a little, which could be
from pain or from nervousness over the fight, or both.
She was fine just a short while before the fight.

We've left a message with the vet hospital for an appt.
tomorrow.

Experiences with canines broken off above the gum line?

Teach us, please.
