Subject: [ferrethealth] Green urine
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com
My 3 1/2 to 4 year old male ferret has been urinating green since
Feb
2. His behavior is normal, eating and drinking are fine. I've
already ruled out the possiblity that he has ingested something. He
has been taken to the vet and blood and urine tests were done. Per
the vet everything looks "normal" from the tests. He has no idea
what
is wrong. After doing some research there were a few things that
people brought to my attention as a possible problem. Heartworm,
adrenal, prostate or some kind of infection. The vet did a
heartworm
test that came back negative. There was no bacteria in the urine,
so
the vet doesn't beleive it is prostate issues. (My ferret doesn't
seem to show signs of straining or pain when he goes.) He was put
on
antibotics for 5 days with the hope that if it was an infection, it
would clear up. After the 5 days his urine is still green. As far
as
adrenal, he shows no signs of adrenal. Which I know doesn't rule
the
disease out.
I'm looking for any thoughts or suggestions to go forward with. Any
tests we haven't done or can do. In all respects my ferret is
currently eating, drinking, and playing like nothing is wrong. I'm
not sure how long this will last. So any suggestions will be helpful.
