Subject: [ferrethealth] Linus had his ultrasound today - good news
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

Well I certainly feel like I am on a roller coaster these past few
days. Linus had his appointment for an ultrasound and aspiration done
by a vet ultrasonographer who has experience with ferrets. We also
went over his blood work results. A lot of things were off and the vet
attributed this too being dehydrated from vomiting, although one
concern was the liver values were high. We decided to do an abdominal
ultrasound as well as chest/heart. I can't believe the results- Linus
has an abscess in his lung, NOT a tumor on the heart or esophagus. It
hasn't been responsible for his vomiting/nausea at all. The vet said
his fluctuations in his blood glucose over the last couple weeks
probably caused nausea/him not eating hard kibble anymore, which left
room for a huge yeast infection. Its hard when you have multiple
ferrets to realize one is not eating the dry stuff, when they eat
their soup twice a day like everything is fine. Also his liver was
fine...so we're going to re-blood test in a few weeks.

He is going to stay on all his stomach, motility and yeast medications
for at least another week, to clear up his stomach upset. He is gonna
stay on Clavamox but we are adding Baytril for a while, in hopes of
clearing that abscess.

I can't tell you how surprised, relieved, and grateful I am.
