Subject: [ferrethealth] THYMUS: left or right side of body in a juvenille ferret?
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com
ok, this is my first time posting and i am hoping someone here is
familiar with ferret anatomy because i have been reading everything i
can find on google books but i cannot find the answer to my question
still.
my question: if the thymus in a young ferret (9 weeks) on the left or
ride side of her body above the heart?
i took my ferret to the vet last night because i was paranoid that she
was impacted (i only got her a week ago) they took some x-rays and
determined she was fine, however the vet (who was not very familiar
with ferrets) noted that her thymus was on the RIGHT side of her body.
the vet told us that in dogs, the thymus is on the left side of the
body. she then suggested that it was possible she had lymphoma, if the
thymus was on the wrong side of her body... and obviously she does
have something if her thymus is in the wrong place.
anyway, she has exhibited none of the symptoms thus far. her breathing
is fine, she is a voracious eater, goes often, high energy.
obviously i am incredibly torn up that my tiny, baby ferret that i
have had for less than a weak may have cancer. i would appreciate any
feedback. :)
