I agree it is REALLY hard to notice small changes in 1 ferret when we have a
large number to care for. Here are a couple of things I did so I could keep
track of even the smallest change:
1. I started keeping a record of daily activity, i.e. Ate breakfast/dinner,
drank, played, gave medication, sneezing, staring, drooling, weight loss,
diarrhea, vomiting, etc. (This paper record has since become an Excel
spreadsheet.) when I pulled out my notebook to answer a vet's question, she
was soooo impressed. Hehehe.
2. When I had a tiny house, I moved an entirely ferret safe futon and
television into their room so that I had more time to notice all of the
above details.
3. When I built a new and larger home, I added on a ferret room adjacent to
my bedroom so I could see and hear problems as they occur.
I know these measures may sound extreme, but it provides the best care I can
give and no one has since had any change that I did not see coming.
