Subject: [ferrethealth] Re: Uno not eating again
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

I had an icteric ferret in the past I treated. We ended up going in
and doing an exploratory since we suspected biliary obstruction.
This could be from a mass compressing it OR in our case he just had
contents that were so thick it couldn't pass. We opened the GB and
flushed it out checked everything else inclucing that the duct was
open then closed it back up and looked around the rest of the
insides. No cancer and he came back from surgery so quickly and did
so well in general we couldn't have been happier. He was 3 at the
time and lived to a rip old age of 9yrs (not sure if he could have
been older he was a rescue). So make sure something isnt missed
since you won'd fully resolve the signs if it is. You might be able
to get more info with ultrasound too if you don't want to do surgery
right away but you end up spending a lot more in the long run and if
you can't afford it then you need to choose. Hope this helps a bit.
Best of luck to you and Uno.
